Seeing Is Believing: A Review of Petkit’s Smart Litter Box
Pet owners know the struggle of constantly cleaning and maintaining their pet’s litter box. But what if there was a way to not only make this task easier, but also monitor your pet’s health at the same time? This is where Petkit’s Smart Litter Box comes in. With its advanced technology and features, this litter box promises to revolutionize the way we take care of our pets. As a tech journalist, I had the opportunity to test out this product and see if it lives up to its claims.
Upon setting up the box, I was offered a free trial of Premium Petkit Care+. This feature allows you to watch a full playback of your pet using the litter box, rather than just still images. The free trial lasts for 30 days and has three subscription plans starting at $4 a month. With the Premium version, you can watch a recording of your cat using the litter box and see the litter being separated and dispensed into an airtight bag. There is also a chart that shows normal versus abnormal stool, making it easier to monitor your pet’s health. However, I found the video quality to be lacking, as it was always in black-and-white and not very clear.
One of the most impressive features of this litter box is its ability to identify different cats. I have a 20-pound gray tabby and a 12-pound calico, and the box was able to correctly identify them about 75% of the time during the trial period. However, once the trial ended, it was no longer able to identify them automatically, despite their distinct appearances.
The litter box can use various types of litter, including clay and tofu, and has different grates for sifting. The 10L waste bin can last up to 20 days with a single cat and is located at the back of the device. The box also comes with a proprietary odor eliminator and sealed waste bag, making it smell great. When the waste bin is full, you simply open the trunk lid, replace the bag, and clip in the refill ring cover. The back trunk end is quite large due to the auto-packing system, which lifts up during operation and automatically packs, seals, and bags the waste. However, you will need to purchase Petkit’s special refill rings and trash bags, which can be quite expensive.
Overall, Petkit’s Smart Litter Box is a game-changer for pet owners. It not only makes cleaning and maintaining the litter box easier, but also allows you to monitor your pet’s health. While there are some drawbacks, such as the video quality and the cost of refill rings and bags, I would still highly recommend this product to any pet owner looking for a smarter way to take care of their furry friend.
