The Indian IT industry is making strides in the field of generative AI, with Infosys leading the way. At the recent Build with AI Summit in Bengaluru, Infosys announced a partnership with Meta to utilize the Llama stack, a collection of open-source large language models and tools, to build AI solutions across industries. As an early adopter of Llama models, Infosys is integrating them with their in-house AI platform, Infosys Topaz, to create tools that deliver business value. One such example is a document assistant powered by Llama that improves the efficiency of contract reviews.
Infosys is also working on small language models for their clients’ various applications, leveraging open-source components and their proprietary dataset. This approach has been praised by Meta AI’s chief, Yann LeCun, who met with an Infosys co-founder funding a project based on Llama 2, which recognizes all 22 official Indian languages.
In addition to their partnership with Meta, Infosys has also strengthened their collaboration with NVIDIA. They are incorporating NVIDIA AI Enterprise into their Infosys Topaz suite to enable businesses to rapidly implement and integrate generative AI into their workflows. Infosys has also launched an NVIDIA Center of Excellence dedicated to employee reskilling, solution development, and the widespread adoption of NVIDIA technology across organizations.
Other Indian IT companies, such as Tata Consultancy Services, are also leveraging AI with the support of NVIDIA. They are creating AI solutions using NVIDIA’s NIM Agents Blueprints for various sectors, including telecommunications, retail, manufacturing, automotive, and financial services. TCS has reported over 600 GenAI engagements in Q2 FY25, a significant increase from the previous quarter, with eight engagements going into production.
Overall, the Indian IT industry is embracing AI and partnering with leading companies to develop innovative solutions for various industries. With the support of open-source communities and advanced technologies, Indian IT companies are well-positioned to drive the adoption of generative AI and revolutionize the way businesses operate.
