On November 6th, at the Microsoft Building AI Companions for India event in Bengaluru, RaagaTrippin’, India’s premier Bollywood all-vocal acapella band, wowed the audience with a unique performance using the power of Microsoft Copilot. The band took suggestions from the audience, including songs from the 1980s and rock music, to generate new lyrics for Queen’s iconic song, We Will Rock You. The lyrics were created in the same meter and rhythm as the original song, showcasing the capabilities of Copilot. The band performed the song live on stage, with the audience thoroughly enjoying the experience. They even announced that Copilot is now their sixth band member.
The event also featured Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, who made his first visit to India. He highlighted how Copilot is becoming a great companion and even a family member for many people. The event aimed to showcase the prowess of Copilot, which is now available in India, including a chatbot on WhatsApp. Microsoft recently launched an updated version of Copilot, allowing users to interact with it in real-time, taking human-computer interaction to a new level. Another feature, Copilot Daily, was introduced in October in select countries, providing users with a curated news experience to start their day.
RaagaTrippin’ is a Mumbai-based Indian a cappella group consisting of six vocalists. They were established in 2012 and are known for their covers of popular Bollywood songs and Western pop music, often blending them into medleys. This event was not the first time that a band has collaborated with AI technology. Last year, at the biggest AI conference, Cypher 2023, the Bengaluru-based Indian-Folk Rock band, Swarathma, used ChatGPT to generate lyrics for a song on the spot and performed it live, mesmerizing the audience.
With Copilot joining RaagaTrippin’ as their newest member, it is evident that AI technology is making its way into the music industry. This collaboration showcases the potential of AI to enhance and innovate in various fields, including music. Microsoft’s efforts to make Copilot more accessible and user-friendly will surely lead to more exciting collaborations in the future.
