The America PAC, backed by Elon Musk, has spent thousands of dollars on advertising through the social media platform X, which is owned by Musk himself, in support of former president Donald Trump’s campaign. According to X’s political ad disclosure data, the PAC ran 59 ads between July 8 and October 1, costing over $166,000 and reaching 32,058,424 impressions. These ads specifically targeted swing states such as Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, and Wisconsin.
Musk publicly endorsed Trump after the attempted assassination against the former president in July, and has since been a vocal supporter, even appearing at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He has stated that this election is the most important of our lifetime and has used his platform on X to promote Trump and his campaign. The America PAC has also been actively involved in voter mobilization efforts, including developing an app for canvassers and offering monetary incentives to swing state voters who sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments.
Recent filings from the Federal Election Commission revealed that Musk has personally donated $75 million to the PAC since July, significantly more than other Silicon Valley donors who support Trump. He has also donated to the Building America’s Future PAC, which has run ads targeting Black and Muslim voters in swing states.
Musk has also used his ownership of X to further promote Trump, including hosting an interview with him on X Spaces and sharing conspiracy theories promoted by the Trump campaign. One ad in particular, which ran between September 27 and October 1, falsely claimed that Kamala Harris released more illegal immigrants into the country than the population of Atlanta. The ad linked to the website votesafe.org, which is paid for by the America PAC and allows voters to check their registration status and request ballots.
All of the PAC’s ads are linked to the @theamericapac X account, which directs users to the PAC’s website. Before his appearance at Trump’s rally in October, Musk had taken over the @america handle for the America PAC. The PAC has also invested heavily in ads on M, further promoting Trump’s campaign.
