Apple has announced a new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro, powered by the M4 chipset platform and featuring the first-ever M4 Max processor. These new models are upgrades to last year’s MacBook Pro and offer more power and performance.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,599 and goes up to $3,199 for the fully-upgraded version. The 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,499 and goes up to $3,999 for the top-of-the-line model. Both are available for preorder now and will ship on November 8.
The new MacBook Pro models feature the same Mini-LED screens, 120-Hz refresh rate, 1080p webcam, and six-speaker sound system as their predecessors. However, they now come with support for Center Stage, which automatically keeps your face in the frame during video calls. The nano-texture glass option, previously only available on the Studio Display, is now also available for the MacBook Pro for an additional $150.
The base MacBook Pro comes with three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, an HDMI, an SD card slot, a high-impedance headphone jack, and a MagSafe charging port. The more powerful versions with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chipsets come with three USB-C Thunderbolt 5 ports for faster data transfer speeds.
The M4 Pro and M4 Max chipsets are built on a second-generation 3-nanometer process, allowing for more transistors to be packed into a smaller space for improved efficiency and speed. These chips also support Apple Intelligence, which includes features like Writing Tools, summaries for transcriptions in the Notes app, Clean Up in Apple Photos, and Smart Replies in Messages.
Overall, the new MacBook Pro models offer more power and performance, making them a great choice for professionals and power users.
