Apple has recently announced the release of its new M4-powered iMac, which features the latest processor in the company’s M-series lineup. This all-in-one computer has been refreshed with new processors since its overhaul in 2021, but this year, there are a few small additions that make it even more appealing.
The 24-inch iMac looks similar to its predecessors, but with new shades and USB-C versions of its peripherals. The major upgrades are internal, including the new M4 processor and increased memory to support Apple Intelligence features. It also comes with a 4.5K resolution LCD, a 1080p camera, and a six-speaker sound system.
One of the most exciting additions is the Center Stage feature, which automatically keeps your face in the frame during video calls. The iMac also comes in darker shades of green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and blue, along with the standard silver option. The accessories have also been updated to use USB-C, and the nano-texture glass option from the Studio Display and Pro Display XDR is now available for an additional cost.
The M4 processor, built on a second-generation three-nanometer process, promises improved power efficiency and speed. According to Apple, the iMac is up to 1.7 times faster than the original M1 chip and has graphics that are up to 2.1 times faster. The iMac is available for preorder now and will ship on November 8.
Overall, the 2024 iMac is a welcome refresh to the all-in-one computer, with small but significant upgrades that make it a powerful and efficient device.
