Anthropic, Palantir Technologies, and AWS have recently joined forces to provide US intelligence and defense agencies with access to Claude 3 and 3.5 models through Palantir’s AI Platform (AIP) and supported by AWS. This partnership aims to enhance data analysis, pattern recognition, and document review capabilities for critical government functions. Dave Levy, VP of worldwide public sector at AWS, expressed excitement about this collaboration and the potential for new generative AI capabilities to drive innovation in the public sector. This partnership reflects AWS’s commitment to security and responsible innovation, as highlighted by Levy in a previous conversation with AIM. Palantir’s chief technology officer, Shyam Sankar, also emphasized the importance of this partnership in providing the US defense and intelligence communities with the necessary tools to securely deploy AI models and gain a decision advantage in critical missions. This collaboration leverages Palantir’s IL6-accredited AIP and AWS’s SageMaker for highly secure and efficient AI deployment. Both companies have received the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) IL6 accreditation, which sets high standards for information security. Kate Earle Jensen, head of sales and partnerships at Anthropic, highlighted the potential of Claude 3 and Claude 3.5 models to improve intelligence analysis and decision-making processes for defense and intelligence organizations. This partnership may prove beneficial, especially as Claude is known for its excellence in programming and coding. The announcement comes at a time when Meta has made Llama open source models available to the US government and when President Trump’s allies are advocating for the use of AI technologies for military purposes. With the current administration’s focus on loosening regulations for AI, this partnership may have a significant impact on the future of AI in the defense and intelligence sectors.
