OpenAI is celebrating with a 12-day event filled with new models and features, following the second birthday of ChatGPT. The company plans to release a variety of new things, big and small, over the next twelve days through livestreams on their official X account. With ChatGPT already reaching over 300 million weekly active users, speculation about what to expect from OpenAI next has been buzzing. The company aims to grow this figure to a billion users in the next year, with over one billion user messages being sent on ChatGPT every day. Here’s a sneak peek at what we can expect from OpenAI’s Christmas announcements:
1. Full Release of o1 Reasoning Model: OpenAI is likely to release the complete o1 reasoning model, which will be multimodal. This model is still in its early stages of development, but significant improvements are expected in the coming months.
2. Sora: OpenAI’s Sora API, which was leaked on Hugging Face and made available for early testing, is expected to be officially launched. This tool is designed for visual artists, designers, creative directors, and filmmakers.
3. New Voices: Rumors suggest that OpenAI is working on a new Christmas theme for Advanced Voice Mode, featuring snowflake animations and a new Santa voice. The company may also introduce a feature where users can generate voices as per their needs.
4. AI Agent: OpenAI is set to launch an AI agent called Operator in January 2025, which will perform tasks like writing code, booking travel, and automating routine activities in web browsers. A preview of this tool may be shown during the festive series live stream.
5. Web Browser: OpenAI may also give us a glimpse of its web browser, which is being developed by Darin Fisher, a key creator of Google Chrome. This product is intended to allow websites to engage with visitors in new ways.
